I currently am an implementation consultant (Workday) and I plan to stay in this arena for the next 2-3 years. I started out in HR (2 years), then switched to implementation work and have been doing that for the last 1.5 years. I’m trying to understand what my options are once I exit. I am interested in HR transformation, change management, HRIS leadership, or possibly product management roles. I do NOT want to end up as an HRIS analyst, bc that’s basically the job I had when I worked in HR. I realize that my interests are a wide reach, which is why I am going to stay in my current field for 2-3 years before I move on. I was wondering if anyone here has made the exit or know anyone that they could connect me with. DM me or comment if you have any advice to share - thanks in advance.
EDIT: I’m in NYC and in my late 20s if it matters. I’m even open to understanding if there’s certain things I should do while I’m still in consulting to best prepare for my next role (classes, meetups, self-study, etc)
If you don’t have an MBA, consider doing so. That will give you broader perspective and marketability. If you are interested in the change management route, there are some good certifications you can consider. DM me if you are interested in learning more about going down that road. You have a good foundation to work with and an exit to industry could be a good move for you to step away from Workday.
