1. Definitely
#1. Also hire me. I’ve done analytics strategy for 6 years, but on the side I’m a fashion designer, producer, and writer. You need a team member that has creativity, vision, and a proven attention to detail.
The best stories make the most impact, and those stories are told with data, emotional intelligence, and an eye for design. Pick me 🙋🏾♀️
Pls don't hate the player 😭 but genuinely have been designing how companies can implement or revamp defunct analytics systems so I'm claiming it

Suggestion: There’s a certain income threshold beyond which one doesn’t include commute time in the equation. One simply moves closer.

OP: Then go for 1.
Personally, I find very few firms and roles at my pay scale, so I don’t mind moving around within the country. But you’d know what works best for you.
Do you want sweet corporate discounts on watches or ketchup?
$50K is nothing. Choose #1 for quality of life - namely, shorter commute time.
Coach
OP added comments, it’s closer to $85k difference.
1.5h of commuting each day?? 1. all day
#1 sounds like my dream job. Any other openings there?😁
At that income level, to me, the marginal value of $50k/year is dramatically less than the marginal value of 1.5hrs/day. Obviously changes based on circumstances (student debt, taking care of extended family, etc) but as someone who’s done the long commute before can’t overstate what a negative life impact that is
Seems like you have already made your mind up for #1
Absolutely not with a 1.5 hour commute, take the first offer
Coach
Both have clear path to leadership, so what industry do you want to work in? How long will the path to leadership take at both? Will $50k extra right now when making $300k be life changing? Could you just move closer to 2 to make commute shorter?
#2 has a more clearly defined path to leadership.
#1. Historically in those luxury conglomerate, you move around brands/houses every 3-5 years and move up in leadership with each move, with the hope of eventually becoming top dog at one of the brands or a C-level role at the larger organization.
#2 sounds like it will lead to a broader set of opportunities and is less dependent on the whims of a single person and industry. I'd go with that and either move or just accept the long commute.
What is the culture like at #1? Having worked in that type of company, with many friends still stuck in that industry, think very carefully about the quality of colleagues, degree of internal stability, if meritocracy exists, etc etc
I would have the same concern.
2. More money less stress, less market cycle risk.
Can 2 be done remotely?
What city?
#2 is hybrid in-office/remote. Meaning 2 days a week in office. But those days it is a 2 hrs commute each way (8 hours commute a week, or 1.5 a day on avg). Not worth moving to a city for that IMO.
But I do like CPG a lot. And TC is actually more ~ $370K.
#1 TC closer to $285K.

OP, this math doesn’t make sense. On average, the commute is still 2 hours each way when you go in. I’d recommend #2 if willing to move, but #1 is still a great option
#1 - the key to happiness is a short commute
Wow I wish I had those exit options too but I’d go to whichever firm has a better culture since both are attractive offers
OP whatever you don’t want pls send my way lol
OP what’s your YOE?
Congratulations! Both are phenomenal opportunities. I would recommend speaking to other folks in these companies to learn more about the culture and energy at these organization. How open are these orgs to change etc. As I said, both are great roles, so you would not regret on either. Would also love to hear about your recruiting journey and how you made these roles happen.
